Most members are already familiar with UCDA searches and use them daily when buying and selling vehicles. As a reminder, here are the searches available through the UCDA:
- Ontario Liens ($11.00): Identifies whether a lien has been registered on a vehicle. Always complete a lien search before purchasing. Volume discounts are available. Out-of-province searches are also available; pricing varies by province/territory. Dealers should search for every province or territory where the vehicle has been registered.
- Auto Check ($6.00): The UCDA’s accident damage claims report. It identifies reported incidents where an insurance claim was made.
- Ontario History & Can Check ($13.00): Shows all registered owners of a vehicle in Ontario. This can help identify previous ownership by an Ontario insurance company (total loss) or rental company (daily rental). Can Check also shows the vehicle’s registration status in other Canadian provinces/territories and the United States.
- Power Pack ($25.00): Includes an Ontario Lien, Auto Check, and Ontario History search—three searches for one price.
- Carfax Canada ($50.85 – price effective November 1st): Members can even order a Carfax through the UCDA. When purchased through the UCDA, a UCDA Accident Claims Report is included at no additional cost!
- Service Insights ($8.00): The UCDA’s latest offering. This report provides information on typical service needs based on a vehicle’s mileage, year, make, and model. If a vehicle is known for requiring a transmission repair at the 100,000 km mark, Service Insights can help you to determine this and ensure that you buy a vehicle and not a problem!
- Export Check ($13.95): Identifies whether a vehicle has been reported as exported. This can help detect potential re-VINs, as an exported vehicle generally cannot be the same vehicle currently in front of you.
- Trustii ($3 Basic – $8 Enhanced): ID verification is also available through UCDA searches. A Basic search will verify one ID, an Enhanced verifies two pieces of ID and will tell you if the customer has done a Trustii verification elsewhere, this can help you catch financial fraudsters!
